Diary of an Estate Agent Mummy - Week 2

So this week has been an interesting ride! First week of homeschooling and well don’t hate me but I didn’t find it too bad, I know, I know. But let me explain first off, my kids are 6 and 13 and well apart from the tech issues at times with teams, the 13yr old pretty much gets on with it, has a routine and she gets the work done, obviously with a few moans and whines and I don’t understand in between but we get there.

For the 6yr old we have Seesaw and I admit it works for me, unlike last year when I was scrabbling around trying to figure out what work to do and if I was doing it right, this is clear tasks set for them. Fortunately, he is engaged most of the time, however school sometimes starts at 10am, sometimes 1pm and even one day 3pm and today Friday, it didn’t happen at ALL but that’s ok and I am not going to stress about it, he’s happy, healthy and we had a ball playing XBOX. These are not normal times and reality is, he will catch up on his education.
However, what we have found is the behaviour has got a bit out of control, very hyper, not listening and being very cheeky, anyone else having this problem? I have had to use ‘mummy’s completely out of control voice on 2 occasions this week. I don’t like to go there but they listen and then proceed to tiptoe round me for the rest of the day for fear of angering the beast anymore! Fun times!

He has also came out with some classic quotes this week, Liam-isms:

Mummy, you’re an antique you belong in a museum

Mummy, you have such a pretty face, you should be on a Xmas card

Or my favourite his rendition of Wizard of OZ or Liam’s version, Wizard of the BAWS!!! Help!

In-between all of this I am still doing all that I can to raise the profile of my business, ongoing competition, continuous social media posts, emails, leaflet drops, chance conversations etc. I had a valuation on Tuesday my first of 2021, a chance message on facebook which will lead to an instruction and another friend looking for me to help with a sale in a few month’s times.

Highlight of the week was the neighbour of the property next door to the one that I sold, booked a valuation through my website, the FIRST ONE!! Wohoo!

I also had a really exciting day on Thursday with a Zoom call with a developer who is interested in working with me. A chance comment on Facebook and connection from a friend helped with this. They have some great developments they are working on and I am absolutely buzzing for this as it gives me an opportunity to create an exciting marketing concept for them. Watch this space!

So what have I learned this week, well my washing basket mainly contains pyjamas, onesies and loungewear, L’oreal root retoucher is a good find and I was never going to last dry January with 2 kids at home 24/7. Oh and I have rediscovered TIK TOL.

Until this lockdown is over, I have decided I am just going to wing it, take each day as it comes and think positive thoughts. One day this sh** show will be over and we can go back to normality, whatever that is!!!!
